Beyond the Desk: Kokedama & Collaboration
This month’s Beyond the Desk event explored the ancient Japanese planting technique – kokedama.

On the 29th of August, Spacestor’s London Design Centre became a hub of green-fingered fun. This month’s Beyond the Desk event explored the ancient Japanese planting technique – kokedama. Kokedama & Collaboration welcomed designers and workplace professionals from across the industry for a Japanese-themed event with food, drink, networking and an insightful hands-on workshop!

The name Kokedama literally translates from “koke” meaning moss, and “dama” meaning ball. The technique of planting botanicals in moss is a fun way to display indoor plants in an elegant way, help to purify the air and can be hung in different areas of a space to create calm and stimulate relaxation. Run by Jar & Fern, the workshop took guests through each step of creating their own kokedama, sharing facts and tips around their maintenance and origins.

Japanese-themed food was served including a selection of crunchy snacks, delicious sushi, tempura prawns and chicken katsu-style canapes. The refreshments and drinks were the perfect accompaniment to enjoy during the event, as guests enjoyed the calming ambiance of our London Design Centre and experienced our workplace solutions. Participants also had the opportunity to tour the London Design Centre, following a recent revamp of the space, including our newly launched products and day-2 configurations of Verandas and Aeonica.

Spacestor runs Beyond the Desk events every month to welcome designers, architects, dealers and workplace professionals for a fun evening of networking, hands-on activities, exclusive tours and refreshments!
